A few days ago I went to see "American Gangster". With a running time of 158 minutes it was quite long. Afterwards I was thinking to myself "maybe they could have done it in 90 minutes". I like Denzel Washington very much. And I also liked him in American Gangster. However, the movie itself was a bit long-winded. For me it´s definitely not a movie for a movie-night with friends at home. But maybe it´s because I didn´t like "The Godfather" either. Maybe you´ll like American Gangster if you liked The Godfather. It is not that American Gangster is a movie is bad or even empirically intractable. But you should not be surprised if when you leave the room, you forget the movie ever existed.
American Gangster tells a fascinating story of impeccable production design, and two powerhouse performances, but Ridley Scott is not Scorsese and the film never comes together.
I watched this movie with my friends and it was great fun to watch it. We all liked the movie and I think richie did the great job in the movie.
